Dimensional Bird Hoop

This hoop is a piece of artwork several years in the making. I do a lot of thrifting and in 2022 as I was going thru all the postcards at the antique mall in Markle IN I stumbled upon this really gorgeous dimensional postcard that was made in Germany and written from a daughter to her father dated June 1, 1910. I knew that eventually I wanted to turn the postcard into some kind of hanging art but I just let myself think on it (for several years apparently). As I got more into embroidery I knew that is how I wanted to turn it into something for display so I was able to separate the bird applique from the postcard backing and I accent embroidered it onto a muslin fitted hoop. I just did some petite embroidering of accent flowers to really let the colors and dimension of the original postcard shine through. 

There is a cutout of the postcard on the back where you can see the original handwriting and the date!
