After making pickles all year long for the Farmer’s Market - I am leaning into the folk story of the pickle and the Christmas tree with these fun little pickle ornaments. The pickle is glass that has been cut, ground, and then lined with copper foil, which I then soldered and accented with pickle bumps and wire.
The story I believe stems from a German history that if you hide a pickle in your tree, the first person to find it receives an extra gift or a treat! This is just information passed to me from customers at the Farmer’s Market.
Of course if you are a pickle fan - you don’t have to limit yourself to using this just as an ornament - you can hang it from your window in the non Christmas tree months or I even had a customer hang it from her chandelier in her dining room!
Measures approximately 3.5x1 inch (not including the tree hangar).
Materials: Glass, Lead Solder, Black Lined Copper Foil, Copper Wire, Black Patina, Finishing Wax
